A SERIES OF EARTH TONED PORTRAITS
The first painting in this series Of Arica. Completed this in May 2021. This woman has all the authority and mystery of the ancients of Africa. Cream colours used instead of pure white as it better portrays the arid conditions of Northern Africa.
Acrylic on canvas.
Canvas size is 150cm x 100cm (39.3x59in)

The second painting in this series Of Arica. Completed this in October 2021. This painting portrays the man who doesn't need anyone to tell him who he is. The cooler hues of sage and grey contrast perfectly with earth tones to create a balanced palette.

A SERIES OF ILLUMINATING SCULPTURES
Michael is the guardian of human kind as charged by God. The first sculpture in this series of Arch Angels. I wanted to create a face that burns from within with a heavenly ferocity. A creation that is luminous with ambient light in the evenings. Two pillar candles fit inside the face and illuminate the features from within. The golden inner of the sculpture throws beautiful warm light through all the cracks of the mottled metallic exterior. Flickering candle light has never been more ethereal.
Air dry clay and acrylic overlay.
Sculpture size is HxWxD 63x24x24 (24.6x9.25x9.25in)

A SERIES OF VIVID PORTRAITS
The first painting in this series Of Light and Colour. I completed this in January of 2020. Originally the idea was to bring some of the colours in the lounge together. It was going to start out as a few splatters on a canvas (just the colours) but the more I planned it, the more it developed into a portrait painting. Consequently I have decided to paint a series of these.

This is the second painting in this series Of Light and Colour. Completed in April 2020. This was challenging to paint in this particular style whilst trying to capture Bill Murray's expression and character. The photo I worked from is a well known picture I believe taken around the time the movie Stripes was made (approximately 1981). I had plenty of fun with this one.

Finally the third in this series is complete. The painting's name is a tribute to the colour I used, Chartreuse. A mustard-tinted lime colour, and name given to the French herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks for centuries. Perhaps you have been fortunate enough to sample this nectar of the monks. Quite a bit of time and planning went into this project, so much so that I have already finished the fourth painting and it is waiting to be varnished. The splatters used here are reminiscent of my original intentions for the first painting in this series, and perhaps an augury of a series to come.

This is one my favourites. She represents all the wonderful women in Africa. I took a little bit of inspiration from the pose held by Nefertiti in the famous limestone bust because I love her enigmatic royal air; even though I didn't give this Woman of Africa Egyptian features. The colours present wonderfully!

I drew inspiration for this painting from a man I saw walking in the street. I had just a fleeting glance of him, but he reminded me of a warrior. I suppose it was in his bearing and I have wanted to capture that stoicism. His gaze transports me to a wild African landscape and the satisfaction of calling it home.
